Ocular Sciences
CLIENT: Ocular Sciences

Ocular Science is a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of contact lenses. Logistics Consultants developed distribution center, material handling and warehouse management system solutions to support Ocular's supply chain in the US and the UK. The business required quick response distribution systems that supported bulk and single unit shipments to wholesalers, retailers and doctors’ offices. The design incorporates a distribution system that uses pick-to-light, automated A-frame dispensing to provide same day processing and shipment of orders. The distribution center is adjacent to and integrated with manufacturing. An unconventional and dynamic approach to profiling enhances the high speed capabilities of the selected logistics technology.

Osram/Sylvania
CLIENT: Osram/Sylvania

Osram/Sylvania manufactures lighting products for industrial, commercial and residential customers. Competition in lighting products is primarily price driven with little brand loyalty. Customer service demands required a reconfiguration of the logistics network. This example is a factory warehouse coupled with a customer distribution center attached to a major manufacturing site. The material handling system design includes a 38,000 opening double deep, eight aisle AS/RS with integrated picking tunnels, high speed case sorting and AGV transportation system. Logistics Consultants assisted the customer with the specification and selection of an advanced warehouse management system employed.

Baxter Healthcare
CLIENT: Baxter Healthcare Corporation

Baxter Healthcare engaged Logistics Consultants to design and implement manufacturing, customer facing, and quick response distribution centers. Logistic Consultants assisted Baxter in the development of supply chain, distribution strategy and network modeling prototype warehouse and distribution center design, warehouse management systems design and financial justification. In addition, Logistics Consultants managed the successful implementation of three Metro warehouse/distribution centers in Ontario, CA, Waukegan, IL and Newburg, NY. These 600,000 sq. ft. warehouse facilities feature automated material handling system, high density storage systems and RF based warehouse management systems. Implementation management services included the training of Baxter managers, supervisors and floor operators.
